Body Of Missing Woman Found In Crash Near Taconic Parkway

EAST FISHKILL, NY — The body of a Newburgh woman, missing since Saturday, was found near the Taconic State Parkway in the town of East Fishkill.

The New York State Police announced Wednesday Katherine M. Garcia, 23, of Newburgh, was reported missing by her family on Monday.

Authorities said Garcia was last seen by friends Saturday night at a home in the town of Beekman.

While searching for her, a car was found off the roadway in a small body of water off the Taconic State Parkway near Exit 37 (Interstate 84) in the town of East Fishkill.

Garcia, who was the only person in the car, was found dead, police said.

The investigation remains ongoing, according to law enforcement.
