Bronx Man In Stolen Nissan On I-87 Had Suspended License, Rainbow Of Drugs: NYSP

NEW PALTZ, NY — The party came to an abrupt stop when a stolen car was pulled over in Ulster County, according to police.

New York State Police say on September 29, around 11:11 a.m., a trooper from the Troop F Community Stabilization Unit (CSU) pulled over a 2025 Nissan traveling north on I-87, in the town of New Paltz,

After the stop, troopers interviewed the driver and only occupant of the vehicle, 39-year-old Robert Brown, of the Bronx. During their investigation, CSU members found out that Brown had been driving with a suspended driver's license, and that the Nissan had been reported stolen, according to NYSP.

Brown was arrested. A search found that he had around 101 grams of cocaine, around 38 grams of MDMA, and around 2.89 grams of fentanyl on his person, cops said.

He was taken to State Police Highland for processing and was charged with:

  • felony third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (intent to sell)
  • felony third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (prior conviction)

  • felony fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property
  • misdemeanor seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
  • misdemeanor second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia (dilutants)
  • misdemeanor second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia (packaging materials)
  • misdemeanor second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia (scales)
  • several vehicle and traffic violations

Brown was taken to the Ulster County Jail for Centralized Arraignment, and was remanded without bail. He is schedule to appear in the Town of New Paltz Court on October 1.
