Car Smashes Into Bagel Business In Newburgh: FD

The accident is under investigation.

NEWBURGH, NY — A local bagel business sustained severe damage when a vehicle crashed into it late Sunday.

The accident happened around 10:15 p.m., when a car struck the Blazing Bagels Plus Cafe & Grill, according to the Winona Lake Fire Engine Company 2, which posted images of the accident on its Facebook page.

Fire officials’ photos show a black vehicle went through Blazing Bagels’ wall and came to rest inside the business. The accident caused significant damage to the building itself and to items inside.

The business was closed at the time.

“Hoping for a quick recovery for Blazing Bagels, they are near to many of our hearts,” the fire company said, in the Facebook post.

Fire officials described it as a multiple-car motor vehicle accident, with one car into a building. It was not immediately clear what caused the crash or how many vehicles were involved.

There were injuries, according to the fire company. Police and fire officials did not immediately comment on how many people were hurt or the extent of their injuries.
