Chester Resident Killed In One-Car Crash In Monroe: Police
The accident happened Thursday afternoon, according to New York State Police.
MONROE, NY — A Chester resident was killed Thursday afternoon when his vehicle left the road and crashed into the woods, state police said.
The single-vehicle accident happened around 12:54 p.m. on State Route 17 in the area of Exit 130A, in Monroe.
Robert S. Ihne, 70, of Chester, the driver and sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to state police.

Police said witnesses observed Ihne’s westbound 2011 Mazda abruptly leave the right lane, then briefly enter the left lane.
The vehicle then swerved back to the right lane, and then left the roadway, continuing off the right shoulder and into a wooded area, according to state police.

The Mazda hit multiple trees before coming to a stop in the woods, police said.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, police said Friday.
