Child Rape Case: Newburgh Man Admits To Horrifying Acts

He now faces up to 20 years in prison after admitting to sexual contact with a child less than 11 years of age.

NEWBURGH, NY — A Hudson Valley man who has admitted to sexually abusing a child now faces the possibility of decades behind bars.

Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced that 34-year-old Kelvin Dubon-Rivas, of Newburgh, pleaded guilty on Friday to first degree rape. During plea proceedings, he admitted that he engaged in anal sexual contact with a child less than 11 years of age, in September of 2024.

The DA recommended that Dubon-Rivas receive 20 years in prison to be followed by 20 years of post-release supervision, when sentenced on May 20. He will also be registered as a sex offender under the NYS Sex Offender Registration Act.

"The significant sentence this defendant faces is the only way to ensure that he is unable to harm others. My Office, together with our law enforcement partners, will never stop seeking to hold sexual predators accountable for their conduct. We will continue to ensure justice is served in these challenging cases."
