Deadly AutoZone Fight: Police Release IDs Of Men Involved

City of Newburgh police have released chilling new details about the disagreement that left one man stabbed and another shot to death.

NEWBURGH, NY — Police have released chilling new details about a violent disagreement at an auto parts store that left one man dead and another in the hospital.

The City of Newburgh Police Department received an emergency call reporting a stabbing on Monday.

The first officers on the scene found two injured men. The injuries were apparently the result of a fight between each other at AutoZone Auto Parts, at 536 Broadway.

One of the men had stab wounds and the other man had a gunshot wound, according to police.

Carlos Colon, a 40-year-old Town of Newburgh resident, was shot, and Xavier Webb, a 25-year-old City of Newburgh resident, had been stabbed.

After officers administered medical care to the men, they were both taken to Montefiore St. Luke’s.

Colon later died, while Webb is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Surveillance video appears to show Webb being approached and stabbed by Colon.

Police say the video depicts Webb pulling a pistol and firing a single round at Colon. Webb then concealed the pistol that was used in the altercation, police said.

Anyone with information about this incident is being urged to call the City of Newburgh Detective Division at 845-569-7509. All callers will remain anonymous, according to police.
