Delays, Cancellations Possible On Hudson Line This Week
The reduced service was due to track damage near Beacon caused by a freight train with mechanical problems.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — If you take the Metro-North Railroad Hudson Line this week, you should expect delays and cancellations.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced the reduced service was due to track damage near Beacon caused by an earlier freight train with mechanical problems.
Delays and cancellations are possible Monday, April 3 through Friday, April 7, the MTA said.

“Our crews are working to safely make repairs to our infrastructure,” the MTA said, “but until the repairs are complete, single-tracking will continue between Beacon and Poughkeepsie.”
As a result of the congestion of using only one of two tracks, the following service changes are in effect:

All inbound Poughkeepsie and Beacon trains will depart between 3 and 5 minutes earlier than published in the March 26, 2023, timetable; this is to allow for extra time to pass the trackwork area.

Inbound AM Cancellations
- The 7:03 a.m. train from Poughkeepsie to Grand Central; consider taking either the 6:45 a.m. or 7:07 a.m. trains from Poughkeepsie
Inbound PM Cancellations
- The 4:31 p.m. train from Poughkeepsie to Grand Central; customers should consider taking either 3:48 p.m. or 4:46 p.m. trains from Poughkeepsie
Outbound PM Cancellations
- The 5:08 p.m. train from Grand Central to Poughkeepsie; consider taking either the 4:47 p.m. or 5:11 p.m. train to Beacon, or the 4:47 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. trains to New Hamburg and Poughkeepsie
- The 8:27 p.m. train from Grand Central to Poughkeepsie; consider taking either the 7:53 p.m. or 9:04 p.m. trains from Grand Central The 9:47 p.m. train from Grand Central to Poughkeepsie; consider taking the 9:04 p.m. or 10:47 p.m. trains from Grand Central
- There is also reduced service in both directions north of Beacon.
Inbound Upper Hudson AM Partial Cancellations
- The 5:55 a.m. train from Poughkeepsie originates at Beacon at 6:11 a.m.; Poughkeepsie and New Hamburg customers should consider taking either the 5:28 a.m. or 6:10 a.m. trains from Poughkeepsie
- The 6:25 a.m. train from Poughkeepsie originates at Beacon at 6:42 a.m.; Poughkeepsie and New Hamburg customers should consider taking either the 6:10 a.m. or the 6:39 a.m. trains from Poughkeepsie
Outbound Upper Hudson AM Partial Cancellations
- The 6:32 a.m. train from Grand Central to Poughkeepsie will end at Beacon at 7:41 a.m.; consider taking the 8:13 a.m. train from Beacon for service to New Hamburg and Poughkeepsie
- The 7:19 a.m. train from Grand Central to Poughkeepsie will end at Beacon at 8:48 a.m.; consider taking either the 6:46 a.m. train from Grand Central or the 9:11 a.m. train from Beacon for service to New Hamburg and Poughkeepsie
Outbound Upper Hudson PM Partial Cancellations
- The 2:51 p.m. train from Grand Central to Poughkeepsie will end at Beacon at 4:44 p.m.; consider taking either the 2:43 p.m. train from Grand Central or the 5:12 p.m. train from Beacon for service to New Hamburg and Poughkeepsie
- The 5:32 p.m. train from Grand Central to Poughkeepsie will end at Beacon at 6:54 p.m.; consider taking the 5:30 p.m. train from Grand Central or the 7:15 p.m. train from Beacon for service to New Hamburg and Poughkeepsie
Yankee Clipper Train
An extra Hudson Line Yankee Clipper train scheduled to depart Grand Central at 4:10 p.m., will not operate on Wednesday, April 5.
Newburgh-Beacon Ferry
Newburgh-Beacon Ferry service is modified this week as a residual effect of the reduced train service:
- For morning service from April 3 through April 7, the Newburgh-Beacon ferry will leave 3 minutes earlier than scheduled
- The 6:34 p.m. ferry will not have a connection because of the cancellation of the 5:08 p.m. train from Grand Central to Poughkeepsie; the next scheduled trip will be the 6:53 p.m. ferry
