Dr. Kristin Backhaus to Speak at Building Ulster County Together Breakfast
The SUNY New Paltz School Of Business Dean will speak about new programs, the university's regional impact, and other relevant topics.

KINGSTON, NY — On Wednesday, October 19th, Ulster County Executive Mike Hein and the Ulster County Economic Development Alliance are pleased to host the Building Ulster County Together Breakfast, featuring guest speaker Dr. Kristin Backhaus, Dean of the School of Business at SUNY New Paltz.
The breakfast will be held from 7:30 – 9:30 AM at the Best Western Plus in Kingston. Tickets may be purchased online here.

During her presentation, Dr. Backhaus will discuss the University’s continuing efforts to promote economic growth in the region, including new academic programs in food marketing, entrepreneurship, and sustainability, plus a new major in Business Analytics. In addition, Dr. Backhaus will is expected to highlight University-wide initiatives to increase alumni outreach and to engage with area businesses.
“Ulster County is fortunate to be home to one of the most dynamic and competitive campuses in the SUNY system,” explained Ulster County Executive Mike Hein. “SUNY New Paltz plays a crucial role in our region’s economy. By delivering innovative academic programs and enriching our County’s cultural landscape, the University is making it easier for our businesses to attract, retain and develop the workforce they need to compete.”

“SUNY New Paltz is a tremendous resource,” added Suzanne Holt, Director of the Ulster County Office of Economic Development. This breakfast is intended to further a dialogue with local business and community leaders, so that employers understand how to tap into all the resources the University offers and the University better understands the needs of local businesses.”
Though Dr. Backhaus began her tenure as Dean of the School of Business at SUNY New Paltz only 18 months ago, she has worked in various administrative and faculty positions there since the late-1980s. During her time as Dean, the School of Business has focused on curriculum development, alumni outreach, and engagement with the business community. Under her leadership, the School is expanding its academic programs to include Food Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Sustainability, and Business Analytics.
This breakfast is sponsored by the Ulster County Executive and the Ulster County Economic Development Alliance. Tickets are available online here. Registration cost is $20 and includes breakfast.
