Drug Raid Leads To 5 Arrests In Poughkeepsie

Complaints of drug activity, overdoses prompted the investigation, according to drug task force officials.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Drug Task Force agents raided property at 7 Jones St. in Poughkeepsie Monday and arrested five people.

Law enforcement officials had received numerous complaints of drug sales there, according to a Facebook post from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office.

The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force launched an investigation, deeming it a priority because of overdoses happening in the area, police said.

Agents began purchasing fentanyl and cocaine at that address, according to the task force.

On Monday, agents arrested Joseph Napolitano, 35, for selling fentanyl and cocaine to them on multiple occasions, police said.

After taking Napolitano into custody, the task force executed a search warrant at 7 Jones St., with assistance from Poughkeepsie police and the county sheriff’s office’s Emergency Services Unit (SWAT).

Napolitano was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.

The following individuals arrested in the raid were wanted by the New York State Police for narcotics-related offenses and were turned over to that agency: Atrayu Felix, 29; Shane Turner, 31; and Jasmine English, 19. The fifth person, Robert Cann, 30, was wanted by New York parole officials and was transported to the Dutchess County Jail pursuant to a warrant.
