Early Morning Crash Sunday Leaves 1 Dead In Hyde Park

Arriving personnel found a BMW had collided with a tree on the north side of East Market Street.

HYDE PARK, NY — An early morning one-car crash Sunday left a Poughkeepsie man dead.

The Town of Hyde Park Police Department said, around 5:45 a.m. Sunday, officers were sent by the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response to the area of East Market Street and Brower Boulevard for a one-car accident.

Arriving personnel found a 2011 BMW had collided with a tree on the north side of East Market Street.

The driver was a 23-year-old man from Poughkeepsie who was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were two other passengers, one of whom, a 22-year-old Hyde Park man, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Police said the third passenger was a 24-year-old Hyde Park man who was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation team conducted a reconstruction of the accident and found the BMW was traveling west on East Market and left the roadway, striking a tree on the north side of East Market near Brower Boulevard.

Authorities said the names of those involved are not being released at this time until proper notification has been made.

Hyde Park police were assisted by the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response, Hyde Park Fire Department, Northern Dutchess Paramedics and the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office.
