Ex-Saugerties Cop Pleads Guilty In Misconduct Case

A grand jury indicted the officer in September 2024, according to the district attorney's office.

SAUGERTIES, NY — A former Saugerties police officer who was accused last fall of misconduct while on duty has pleaded guilty to four counts against him.

Dion Johnson, 35, of Newburgh, entered the plea Feb. 3 to one count of second-degree criminal trespass, one count of official misconduct, and two counts of second-degree harassment, court records show.

He is scheduled to be sentenced April 11 in Ulster County Court.

Johnson worked for the police department for four years before he resigned last year.

In September, a grand jury indicted him on 11 counts, which included second-degree burglary, first-degree sex abuse, and counts related to unwanted sexual contact and workplace sexual harassment, according to the district attorney’s office.

Johnson was accused in the indictment of stalking and harassing, then sexually assaulting and burglarizing an individual in 2020. The indictment claimed Johnson engaged in misconduct while in uniform from July 2020 through October 2021.
