Felony Arrest After Stolen ATV Crashes Into Guardrail: NYSP
A 33-year-old Ellenville man was charged with criminal mischief, grand larceny, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, cops said.

TOWN OF WAWARSING, NY — A joy ride on a stolen ATV ended with a crash and an arrest, according to NYSP.
The New York State Police say that on Wednesday, around 4 p.m., troopers from Ellenville responded to Berme Road, in the Town of Wawarsing, after reports of a one-vehicle ATV crash.
Police say a 2025 Can-Am ATV had been heading south on Berme Road, when the driver, identified as 33-year-old Jose Aldarondo, of Ellenville, lost control of the ATV and struck a guardrail.

During their investigation, troopers learned that the ATV had been reported stolen by its owner.
Aldarondo was arrested and refused medical attention for his injuries. He was taken to SP Ellenville for processing, and charged with felony second-degree criminal mischief, felony third-degree grand larceny, misdemeanor third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, misdemeanor attempted leaving the scene of a personal injury accident (first offense), and several vehicle/traffic violations.

Aldarondo was arraigned on Thursday, in the Town of New Paltz Court, and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear back in court on a future date.
