Fight Between Motorists In Wallkill Leads To Assault Charge: NYSP
Police said two motorists were involved in a collision on Route 211 and then they began to fight.
WALLKILL, NY — A fight between two motorists who were involved in a traffic collision in the town of Wallkill led to one of them being accused of assault and criminal weapon possession.
The New York State Police said, shortly before 1:30 p.m.Wednesday, troopers were sent to an assault on Route 211 in the town of Wallkill.
The preliminary investigation found that an altercation between Jahri Evans, 24, and Marquis Johnson, 24, both from the town of Wallkill, began after a collision on Route 211 near the ramp to Route 17 eastbound.

After the vehicles came to a stop, both men got out of their cars and a physical fight started.
During the fight, police said Evans assaulted Johnson with a large knife causing lacerations.

Evans fled the scene in his car, but he was stopped by a trooper going west on Interstate 84 in the town of Wawayanda. He was taken into custody without incident.
Johnson was taken to Garnet Health Medical Center in Wallkill and treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Evans was charged with first-degree assault, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and tampering with physical evidence, felonies, and second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor.
He was arraigned and bail was set at $20,000 cash or $40,000 bond.
