Former Rep. Maloney Gets Nominated To Ambassador Post
If confirmed, Maloney will represent the United States at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Former Hudson Valley congressman Sean Patrick Maloney was nominated to the United States representative to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
The post carries the rank of ambassador, and if he's confirmed, Maloney will be stationed in Paris.
According to the U.S. Department of State website, the organization is comprised of 37 democracies and provides a setting where governments can “compare experiences, seek answers to common challenges, identify good practices and develop high standards for economic policies.”

Maloney, a Democrat, served five terms representing New York's 18th Congressional District.
He was defeated for re-election in 2022 by Republican Michael Lawler when the district was redrawn and became New York’s 17th Congressional District.

While in Congress, Maloney chaired the Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation Subcommittee of the Transporation and Infrastructure Committee as well as the Commodity Markets, Digital Assets and Rural Development Subcommittee of the Agriculture Committee.
He was also a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and was elected to House leadership in 2020.
Prior to serving in Congress, Maloney served as President Bill Clinton’s White House Staff Secretary, helped found a financial services software company and worked as a partner at two global law firms.
He is the first openly LGBT person ever elected to Congress and the highest-ranking openly LGBT person ever to serve in the House.
Maloney and his husband, Randy Florke, recently celebrated their 30th anniversary and have raised three children together.
