Fun October Library Programs In The Mid-Hudson Valley

Halloween and The Day of the Dead have inspired some interesting programs.

Kingston

Felted Pumpkins And Carving Party: The Kingston Library will have an adult craft night on Oct. 26 starting at 6 p.m. Crafters will make decorative pumpkins for the fall. The Friends of Kingston Library Pumpkin Carving Event takes place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29. Registration is encouraged. Pumpkin lighting takes place on Halloween night when the carved pumpkins are displayed outside the library. The library is located at 55 Franklin Street. 845 331-0507

Scary Tales and Day of the Dead: The Adriance Memorial Library will offer Tales to Tell in the Dark, from 4 to 4:45 p.m. on Oct. 26. A Day of the Dead program at 4 p.m. Oct. 27 will focus on the Mexican tradition, honoring those loved ones who have passed from our lives. Grades K-5. Registration required. A hauntingly horrifying hangout with treats and frightening activities takes place at 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 31.

Day of the Dead masks: Join artist Debbie Lane in creating Day of the Dead papier-mache masks at 1 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Howland Public Library, 313 Main Street, Beacon. Supplies are included. Registration is required. Call 845 831-1134.

Halloween Bash and Mad Science: The Rhinebeck Starr Library will have a Halloween Bash and Mad Science program at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 29. The library is located at 68 West Market Street, Rhinebeck. 845 876-4030.
