Goshen Schools, Police Warn About 'Senior Assassin' Game

The game involved high school seniors playing with water guns trying to find the person they've been assigned to get.

GOSHEN, NY — School and police officials are responding to a social media post calling for an off-campus game that involves high school seniors playing with water guns.

The online post said, for a couple of weeks, more than 70 seniors will be participating in “Senior assassin.”

The game was described on social media as “good fun” and called for seniors going all over town trying to get their assigned person "until someone wins.”

Dr. Kurtis Kotes, superintendent of Goshen schools, and Goshen High School Principal Nick Pantaleone said in a statement posted on the district website that the game posted on social media was not the idea of or sanctioned by the school district.

“The District was not aware of this until the issue surfaced on social media,” they said. “The District strongly encourages families and community members to consider the safety of any activity that is supported outside of the school’s purview.”

Village of Goshen Police Chief James Watt said in a statement that parents should discuss the activity with their children because it could, when conducted in uncontrolled public places, cause public alarm, citizen intervention and 911 calls generating a police response.

“The thrill of the game could impede judgment,” he said, “and participants may be oblivious to how their behavior could be viewed by community members with individuals with weapons, often chasing others on foot or in vehicles.”
