On Oct. 18, around 5 p.m., the victim, a 10-year-old, was walking to his babysitter's home in the City of Newburgh with $200 cash from his parents to pay the babysitter. Hoovler thanked the City of Newburgh Police Department for their investigation which led to the arrest of Murry-El.

"Every citizen of Orange County deserves to walk our streets free of the fear of being attacked by the violent acts of another," the district attorney said. "That this defendant would choose to rob an innocent child is particularly galling. I commend the bravery of the young victim in this case who stood before the defendant and a jury of the defendant’s peers and spoke of the criminal acts that led to the defendant’s conviction. The dedicated prosecutors of my office will not halt in our relentless pursuit of justice on behalf of crime victims."
