Gunfire Erupts In Dispute Between 2 Groups, 2 Teens Arrested: Police

PORT JERVIS, NY — A disagreement between two groups on the street in Orange County escalated into gun violence.

The Port Jervis City Police Department says that on Monday, around 2:48 p.m., they received a report of a gunshot fired on Seward Avenue, near Hammond Street, after a dispute between two groups.

During the dispute, one suspect pulled out a handgun and discharged one round, which struck a parked vehicle, according to police.

Port Jervis police say 18-year-old Anthony Longardino, of Port Jervis, and 19-year-old Zane Staerker, of Huguenot, were arrested.

Longardino was charged with felony first-degree reckless endangerment; felony second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and felony second-degree criminal mischief. He was arraigned in the Orange County Centralized Arraignment Part at Middletown City Court and remanded to Orange County Jail in lieu of $30,000 cash bail / $60,000 bond / $90,000 partially secured bond pending his next court appearance.

Staerker was charged with felony first-degree reckless endangerment. He was arraigned in the Orange County Centralized Arraignment Part at Middletown City Court and was released to Orange County Probation for monitoring pending his next court appearance.

Staerker was treated at Bon Secours Community Hospital for a leg laceration and discharged.

No other injuries were reported.

The Port Jervis City Police Department was assisted by the Town of Deerpark Police Department, the Orange County Sheriff's Office, and the New York State Police. Anyone with information about this incident is being asked to call Port Jervis police at 845-856-5101.
