Gunman Now Facing Attempted Murder In Shooting At Park: DA
The 31-year-old Poughkeepsie man is accused of firing a gun 12 times in the crowded park, wounding a bystander.

CITY OF POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A terrifying scene at a Main Street park has led to a Dutchess County grand jury handing down multiple attempted murder counts.
The Dutchess County District Attorney's Office says that 31-year-old Anthony Guillen, of Poughkeepsie, was arraigned on Friday, on a six-count indictment by a Dutchess County grand jury. The indictment charged Guillen with two felony counts of second-degree attempted murder, felony first-degree assault, two felony counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and one felony count of first-degree assault.

"My office remains firmly committed to thoroughly investigating every incident of gun violence and vigorously prosecuting those who threaten our community’s safety. I want to thank our partners in the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department and its Neighborhood Recovery Unit, whose dedicated efforts have been instrumental in reducing shootings along the Main Street Corridor."
According to court documents, the incident took place during the evening hours of July 18, in the area of the 300 block of Main Street, in the City of Poughkeepsie. Guillen is accused of firing a gun approximately twelve times in a crowded area near Hulme Park, striking a bystander once in the leg. The victim was treated at the hospital and suffered serious physical injury as a result of the gunshot, according to police.

The case was investigated by the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department and is being prosecuted by Senior Assistant DA Liz Kurtz, with the Violent Crimes and Dangerous Drugs Unit.
Bail was set at $750,000 cash, $1.5 million bond, and $3 million partially secured bond. Guillen is set to return to court on December 3.
