Gunman Who Fired 'Warning Shots' In Woods In Custody After Hourslong Negotiations: Sheriff
The Dutchess County Sheriff has provided more details about Monday's huge law enforcement operation involving drones and road closures.
TOWN OF NORTH EAST, NY — The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office has provided more details about Monday's operations involving drone activity and the closure of Route 199, between Route 22 and Winchell Mountain Road.
While the Sheriff's Office, at the time, said there was no threat to public safety, the public was advised to avoid the area.
On Monday, around 12:40 p.m., deputies arrived at a home in Amenia to conduct a welfare check on a man. That man was not there, but they learned that he was armed in a wooded area near the State Route 199/State Route 44 intersection in North East, and had apparently fired a "warning shot" into the air to those searching for him.

Additional personnel then responded to the area and set up a perimeter.
After several hours of negotiation, Garrett O'Holloran was taken into custody without further incident, authorities said, and two firearms were recovered during the arrest.

The 32-year-old was taken to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie for treatment.
The Sheriff's Office says the investigation is ongoing and criminal charges are possible.
Members from several different Sheriff's Office units, including Patrol, Detectives, Emergency Services, Crisis Negotiation, K-9, UAS (drones), and ATVs all responded to the scene. The Sheriff's Office was also assisted by outside agencies, including the New York State Police, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, the Town of Pine Plains Police Department, the Millerton Fire Department, and Northern Dutchess Paramedics.
