Higher Temps, Humidity: Heat Advisory Issued For Mid-Hudson Valley

MID-HUDSON VALLEY, NY — It is, after all, July, so we're likely to experience warmer temperatures.
Meteorologists are predicting are an increase in temperatures and humidity for Thursday.
Because of that, a heat advisory is in effect from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

The advisory is for Columbia, Dutchess and eastern Ulster counties.

The highest temperatures and heat indices will generally be found in the urban valley locations and peak in the mid- to late afternoon for a couple of hours.
Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur.
Extra precautions should be taken if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
