CITY OF POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A woman who was entrusted to help care for a vulnerable patient instead took advantage of the situation for personal gain, according to New York State Police.

NYSP say that 30-year-old Shana D. Shaw, of Saugerties, was arrested for several charges, including second-degree possession of a forged instrument, fourth-degree grand larceny, first-degree falsifying business records, first-degree offering a false instrument for filling, and first-degree endangering the welfare of a physically disabled person.

Shaw was arrested on Wednesday, by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI), after an investigation found that while working as a home health care aide, she had forged a victim's vehicle title and presented it to the Department of Motor Vehicles to claim ownership of the vehicle.
