KINGSTON, NY — An inmate in Ulster County had a stash of goodies that he didn't get from the commissary, according to the sheriff's office.

Ulster County Sheriff's Office detectives say that a 30-year-old inmate at the Ulster County Jail was arrested for narcotics possession.

On Tuesday, detectives were contacted by the Ulster County Sheriff's Office Corrections Division and were told that an unknown substance had been located and recovered in an inmate's cell.

After an investigation, it was determined that 30-year-old Jaquan Hamilton, of Chatham, was in possession of around 18 grams of crack cocaine. He was charged with two felony counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and first-degree promoting prison contraband.

After Hamilton was arraigned in the Central Arraignment Part Court (CAP) of Ulster County, he remains incarcerated in the Ulster County Jail on unrelated charges.
