District Attorney Hoovler thanked the City of Middletown Police for their investigation which led to the arrest of Simpson.

"The admitted conduct of this defendant is terrifying and the worst nightmare of every resident," Hoovler said. "In light of his repeated, violent criminal history, this defendant will face a life sentence, which is an appropriate punishment. The residents of Orange County deserve to feel safe in their homes, and the long incarceratory term expected to be imposed in this case will help to make our communities safer. I commend the work of the City of Middletown Police Department who ensured this defendant was held to account for his crimes."
