'Lengthy' Sentence For Man Who Fired Gun At People In Newburgh
The Orange County DA said he would continue holding accountable those who illegally possess and use firearms.

NEWBURGH, NY — A city resident who fired a handgun five times at people he had just threatenedwas sentenced Tuesday to 13 years in prison, Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced.
The sole charge against Frank Baltimore, 36, was second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, the DA said.
"The lengthy sentence imposed in this case was appropriate for this dangerous offender, whose indiscriminate possession and use of a firearm was as dangerous as it was criminal," Hoovler said. "My Office is committed to ensuring the safety of our communities by identifying and holding accountable those who illegally possess and use firearms."

Baltimore will also have five years of post-release supervision following his release.
During the jury trial, prosecutors alleged that at 1 a.m. July 11, 2023, Baltimore made threats to individuals in the vicinity of Dubois Street and then discharged a loaded 9mm handgun five times in their direction.

The rounds struck a vehicle in the area, prosecutors said. No one was harmed.
Surveillance video of the incident, as well as the collection of other physical evidence, led law enforcement to identify Baltimore as the perpetrator, prosecutors said. He later told the police that the individual in the video was him but claimed that the gun he used was a BB gun.
Hoovler thanked the City of Newburgh Police Department for the investigation and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office who assisted by providing testimony.
