LI Man Killed In Head-On Collision In Dutchess County
Police said a teenage driver fell asleep while driving and crossed over into oncoming traffic.
LAGRANGE, NY — A Long Island man was killed in a head-on collision on Route 55 in Dutchess County Friday.
The New York State Police said the crash occurred around 3:40 p.m. in the town of Lagrange.
Troopers were sent to Route 55 west of Route 82 for the head-on collision. They found the Lagrange Fire Department already on the scene providing medical treatment.

The investigation found a 17-year-old, operating a 2015 Honda CRV, fell asleep while driving east.
The teen entered the westbound lane and struck a 2021 Kia Sorrento driven by Gabriel T. Bovenzi, 54, of Shirley, Suffolk County.

Bovenzi was taken by the Lagrange Fire Department to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
