Liberty Man Accused Of Trying To Stab Woman To Death
Police said he stabbed the woman several times and also stole her phone.

LIBERTY, NY — A Liberty resident was accused of trying to kill a woman with a knife.
The Village of Liberty Police Department said, around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers were sent to North Main Street for a report of a woman who had been injured.
They found the woman had been assaulted and had multiple cuts and puncture wounds from being stabbed, police said.

She was taken by ambulance to a Medivac helicopter and flown to Westchester Medical Center where she was treated for multiple injuries, according to authorities.
Liberty police began an investigation and, within minutes, located Jesse Rubio, 24, of Liberty, on Lincoln Place in the village.

After a short foot pursuit, he was apprehended, police said.
Law enforcement said the investigation said Rubio had stabbed the woman multiple times with a knife that was later recovered by police.
He also stole the woman’s phone and tried to dispose of evidence before being taken into custody, police said.
Rubio was charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree robbery, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and tampering with physical evidence, all felonies.
He was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and sent to the Sullivan County Jail without bail.
