Liberty Toddler Died Of Fentanyl OD: District Attorney

The district attorney said that a second child, who is 4 months old, is in the hospital.

LIBERTY, NY — The 16-month-old girl who died after being found at a village of Liberty motel died from a drug overdose.

Acting Sullivan County District Attorney Brian Conaty said the toddler died because of an overdose of fentanyl, MidHudson News reported.

Another baby — one who is 4 months old — is in stable condition in a hospital.

Police were sent to the Knights Inn Motel on Route 52 Tuesday evening for a report of a child in cardiac arrest.

The 16-month-old girl was taken to Garnet Health Medical Center in Catskills where she was pronounced dead.

Jimmie Luvert, 41, and Lisa Keitt, 26, both of Liberty, were charged with felony criminally negligent homicide and two counts of misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.

Luvert was sent to Sullivan County Jail without bail. Keitt was sent to jail in lieu of $500,000 bail, $1 million secured bond or $2 million partially secured bond.
