TOWN OF NEWBURGH, NY — A Hudson Valley man will spend the rest of his life behind bars, for the massacre of a Hudson Valley family in 2020.

Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced that 35-year-old Kaliek Goode-Ford, of Newburgh, was sentenced on Tuesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole for murdering a family in the Town of Newburgh.

Goode-Ford was convicted by a jury in January of all charges against him, including three counts of first-degree murder, first-degree attempted murder, second-degree attempted murder, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and tampering with physical evidence.

During the trial, it was alleged that Goode-Ford entered a home in the Town of Newburgh and fatally shot a man, his wife and their nine-year-old son. He also shot a three-year-old boy who survived. After the shooting, Goode-Ford threw the pistol and magazine he used during the murders into the Hudson River.

"A prison sentence nothing short of forever is the only acceptable sentence in this case and, thankfully, was the one imposed," Hoovler said. "It is not often that, as prosecutors, we encounter defendants whose conduct is truly irredeemable, but the evil exhibited by this defendant is unparalleled. However, today, justice stood in the face of that depravity and refused to back down. This outcome is the culmination of incredibly hard work by the team of investigators, led by the talented detectives of the Town of Newburgh Police Department, and the dedication of the prosecutors who secured the conviction. My deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of those lost in this utterly senseless crime."

The district attorney thanked the Town of Newburgh Police Department and New York State Police for their investigation and the arrest of Goode-Ford, and the FBI and New York State Police Dive Team for assisting in the investigation.

Hoovler also highly commended Chief Trial Assistant District Attorney Richard Moran and Assistant District Attorney Christine Maggiore who prosecuted the case.
