36-Year-Old Arrested For Stalking Elementary School Child: Sheriff

He followed the young child around Pleasant Valley, and tried to give them inappropriate gifts and a note, according to authorities.

PLEASANT VALLEY, NY — A 36-year-old Wappinger man was arrested because of his behavior involving a young child, according to officials.

The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office says that Kurt R. Geisler was arrested in connection with a recent investigation into a strange incident.

On Wednesday, around 7 p.m., deputies received a complaint about a man who had approached a young child in the Town of Pleasant Valley.

Further investigation led to the identification of Geisler in connection with the incident, and he was taken into custody later that evening, according to the sheriff's office.

The sheriff's office says that Geisler is accused of following the elementary school-aged child and attempting to give them inappropriate gifts and notes. In order to protect the victim's privacy, no further information about them or the case will be released, officials said.

Geisler was charged with felony second-degree stalking and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.

After being processed, he was arraigned before the Town of Pleasant Valley Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
