Man Crushed By Truck Cab In Orange County: New York State Police

He was struck by a 2014 Freightliner cab that was attempting to hook up to an empty trailer, police said.

ORANGE COUNTY, NY — A man was killed in an industrial accident Thursday in Maybrook, New York State Police reported.

Troopers were called at 9:15 a.m. to 1000 Homestead Ave.

The site was home to Tennessee-based Yellow Freight, which ceased operations in 2023 and filed for bankruptcy after 100 years. Auctions of Yellow Corp.'s rolling stock assets are taking place throughout 2024.

State police said their preliminary findings were that Stanley Weglarz, 61 from Mount Juliet, Tennessee was assisting in the yard directing trucks to trailers when he was struck by a 2014 Freightliner cab that was attempting to hook up to an empty trailer.

Weglarz was found crushed between the cab and the trailer.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Police are assisted by the Town of Montgomery Police Department and the Village of Maybrook Police Department in the ongoing investigation.
