Man Gets 25 Years To Life For Kingston Slaying: Court Docs
The man was pistol-whipped and fatally shot in July 2020 in his apartment, according to police.
KINGSTON, NY — A Kingston man has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for the July 2020 slaying of a local resident, officials said.
A judge sentenced Raymond Snyder on Feb. 14. Snyder was convicted at trial in October 2024 of second-degree murder and two counts of first-degree burglary, court records show.
The charges stemmed from the July 11, 2020 slaying of 47-year-old Romero Underwood, who was pistol-whipped and shot to death in his apartment, according to the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office. Police charged Snyder in January 2021.

Authorities have said the shooting was motivated by drugs.
Snyder is due to appear in Ulster County Court on Friday, Feb. 21 for a hearing, as his defense has filed a motion to set aside and vacate the verdict, court records show.
