Middletown HS To Have Increased Police Presence Tuesday
The school district superintendent said a group chat and social media post are said to have made a threat of violence against the school.

MIDDLETOWN, NY — A possible threat of violence at the Middletown High School has led to an increased police presence Tuesday at the school.
Middletown Superintendent Amy Creeden, in a letter to the school community Monday, said that the City of Middletown Police Department received a report from a family concerning a group chat and possible social media post among a small group of high school students.
She said the group chat and social media post are said to have made a threat of violence against the school.

“The police immediately began an investigation into this matter and visited the home of the student who is alleged to have made the threat,” Creeden said. “At approximately 9:15 p.m., information regarding this situation was reported to my office and high school administration.”
She said that, out of an abundance of caution, there would be additional law enforcement around the high school campus on Tuesday.
