Months-Long Investigation Into Fentanyl Sales Leads To Arrest
Fentanyl and cocaine have been linked to an overwhelming number of overdose deaths in Dutchess County.
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A months-long investigation into the sale of fentanyl in the city of Poughkeepsie netted an arrest.
The Dutchess County Drug Task Force said Friday that Mackenzie A. Arias, 23, was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a felony.
The task force has been actively investigating fentanyl sales in Poughkeepsie in the areas of Academy and Montgomery streets for several months.

Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine, experts said. Fentanyl and cocaine have been linked to an overwhelming number of overdose deaths in Dutchess County.
