Motorist Accused Of Crashing Into Dunkin’ Building: Police
Police claim the driver was operating under the influence.

ORANGE COUNTY, NY — A man who crashed his truck into a Dunkin’ donut shop last September now faces multiple charges for the accident, which caused so much damage the building had to be demolished.
Crawford police said Monday they have charged Eric Schrader, 44, of Pine Bush, with driving while ability impaired by drugs, driving while ability impaired by the combined influence of drugs, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Schrader also faces motor vehicle and traffic violations for the Sept. 26, 2024 accident.

Schrader was driving a 2015 Chevy Silverado eastbound on State Route 52 at around 12:40 a.m. when he crossed the westbound lane, exited the roadway and struck the Dunkin' building at 2380 State Route 52, according to police.
The business was closed, and the building was unoccupied at the time.

Police said the vehicle drove more than three-fourths of the way through the business.
Crawford’s building inspector deemed the structure unsafe, and it was demolished within days of the accident. Plans for rebuilding a new Dunkin’ at the site are currently before the Town Planning Board.
Schrader suffered serious injuries and had to be hospitalized, police said. He was released from a medical facility in early January.
Police said Schrader was released on an appearance ticket. He must appear in Crawford Justice Court on the charges. His next court date was not available on Tuesday.
