Murder-Suicide Investigated After Leap From Hudson River Bridge
The married couple, who both died, had two young children who are safe and being cared for by family members, according to police.

ULSTER COUNTY, NY — The Kingston Police Department says that on Wednesday, around noon, the Town of Ulster Police Department received a report of a person having jumped off the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge.
Once the body was recovered and identified as 45-year-old Caleb Smith, Ulster police officers headed to a Fair Street address to attempt to notify relatives of Smith's death.
However, when police arrived, they discovered a dead woman later identified as Smith's wife, 37-year-old Kaleigh Griffin.

Ulster police notified the City of Kingston Police Department, and a joint investigation began.
Kingston police said that all evidence in the investigation shows that shortly before jumping from the bridge, Smith had stabbed and killed his wife.

Smith and Griffin were residents of Kingston, but had previously lived in Connecticut.
The married couple had two young children who are safe and being cared for by family members, according to police.
New York State Police and the Ulster County District Attorney's Office assisted in the investigation.
