Newburgh City Police Officer Accused Of Rape

Police said the investigation found that John Dizon sexually abused a child younger than 13 in April 2022 while in Bethlehem, Albany County.

NEWBURGH, NY — A city of Newburgh police officer was fired Monday after being charged with rape.

New York State Police said John Kyle B. Dizon, 23, of Cornwall, was charged Monday with first-degree predatory sexual assault against a child, first-degree criminal sexual act first-degree rape and first-degree sexual abuse, all felonies.

Police said, on June 1, authorities received information that an adult man had sexual contact with a child.

The investigation found that Dizon had sex with a child younger than 13 in April 2022 while in the township of Bethlehem, Albany County, police said.

He was arrested at the Middletown barracks and taken to the Latham barracks for processing.

Dizon was arraigned Saturday at the Westerlo Town Court, and was sent to the Albany County Correctional Facility without bail.

At the time of the incident, he was employed as a law enforcement officer for the State of New York University police at SUNY Albany.

When he was arrested, he was working as a police officer for the City of Newburgh Police Department, which is cooperating with the investigation.

Dizon’s employment with the Newburgh city police was terminated Monday, MidHudson News reported.
