Newburgh Resident Charged In September Gunfire: Police

The arrest stems from a 2024 report of shots fired in the city, according to police.

NEWBURGH, NY — Police have charged a 20-year-old city resident for a September 2024 gunfire discharge.

Jyaire Adams, 20, of Newburgh, was arrested Feb. 17 and charged with felony weapons possession, police said.

Police were summoned on Sept. 27, 2024, around 11:35 p.m. to the vicinity of William Street and South William Street for a report of shots fired. Police recovered four 9-millimeter shell casings at the scene, police said.

The city’s Non-Fatal Shooting Team identified Adams as the suspect, police said, and took him into custody after spotting him Feb. 17.
