NJ Man Dies While Hiking In Greene County
Authorities said he complained of chest discomfort and breathing issues while on the Diamond Notch Trail of the Hunter-West Kill Wilderness.

LANESVILLE, NY — A hiker from New Jersey died after complaining of chest discomfort and breathing issues in the Hunter-West Kill Wilderness in Greene County.
Department of Environmental Conservation forest rangers received a report shortly before 9 a.m. Saturday of his issues while he was on the Diamond Notch Trail.
Members of the hiking party began CPR while another hiker called 911.

Two nearby emergency medical technicians began assisting with CPR on the 50-year-old man. The CPR was unsuccessful.
Two forest rangers helped other first responders carry the man’s body to the trailhead where he was turned over to the coroner.

The DEC said the New York State Police is the lead agency on the death investigation.
Resources were clear at 1 p.m., authorities said.
