NJ Motorcyclist Killed In Collision With Pick-Up Truck In Deerpark

Police said that the motorcycle made a left turn in front of the oncoming pick-up truck.

DEERPARK, NY — A New Jersey motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a pick-up truck in Orange County.

The New York State Police said, shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday, troopers were sent to the intersection of Route 209 and Third Street in the town of Deepark for a report of a collision between a pick-up truck and a motorcycle.

When they got to the location, troopers found a 2000 Harley-Davidson motorcycle underneath a 2013 Toyota-Tundra.

The operator of the motorcycle, identified as David J. Castner, 54, from Highland Lakes, New Jersey, was receiving medical attention from Cuddeback Fire Department Medics, Port Jervis Ambulance EMS and Port Jervis Police Department officers.

Castner was taken by Port Jervis Ambulance to Garnet Health Medical Center where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

The preliminary investigation determined that the driver of the Tundra was making a left turn on Route 209 traveling north.

As the pick-up truck was turning, the motorcycle, which was going south on Route 209, made a left turn in front of the pick-up.

Castner was ejected from the motorcycle, police said.

The incident is under investigation.
