Northern Dutchess Hospital’s Rehabilitation Unit Earns Accreditation

Rhinebeck, – Northern Dutchess Hospital’s Paul Rosenthal Rehabilitation Center recently achieved a three-year accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.

CARF is an independent nonprofit that provides a framework, then advises Northern Dutchess on how to improve the quality of rehabilitation care. The Paul Rosenthal center provides intense physical, occupational and speech-language therapies to patients recovering from stroke, orthopedic surgery, brain injury and other conditions. The accreditation process consists of ongoing consultation and an in-depth on-site review of the hospital’s acute rehabilitation unit.

“This is the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to us,” rehabilitation unit director Carol Charmello said. “We put ourselves through a rigorous peer-review process, demonstrating to a team of surveyors during a site inspection our commitment to offering programs and services that are measurable, accountable and of high quality.”

Located within Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, the rehabilitation unit offers 10 private patient rooms, a spacious therapy gym and a community dining room, as well as skilled nurses and therapists.
