Orange County Coronavirus: 62 New Cases On Wednesday

As of Wednesday, 427 Orange County residents have died of the new coronavirus.

ORANGE COUNTY, NY — As of Wednesday, 10,237 people have tested positive for the new coronavirus in Orange County, officials report. County Executive Steve Neuhaus said 62 new cases were reported Wednesday.

The county reports 1,179 people have recovered after being diagnosed with the virus that has claimed the lives of 427 county residents.

Last week, New York officials released reopening guidelines for essential and nonessential businesses. The guidelines come ahead of a planned phase one business reopening for regions that have satisfied the state's seven metrics.

As of Wednesday, the Mid-Hudson Valley had satisfied five of the metrics but fell short in showing a decline in deaths and meeting a required number of contact tracers.

Once the Mid-Hudson Valley satisfies all seven metrics, the following industries will be allowed to reopen with mandatory restrictions and recommendations in place.
