Orange County Man Sentenced In Child Sex Abuse Case: DA

The Pine Bush resident must register as a sex offender after he serves his prison term, the DA says.

ORANGE COUNTY, NY — A Pine Bush man was sentenced Thursday to 18 years in prison for sexually abusing a child, District Attorney David M. Hoovler said.

After Allan Bressler, 74, of Pine Bush, serves the 18-year sentence, he will be on supervision for another 10 years, and he must register as a sex offender, the DA said.

Judge Craig Stephen Brown imposed the sentence in a proceeding in Orange County Court.

Bressler had previously entered a guilty plea to first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, the DA said.

According to the district attorney’s office, with his guilty plea, Bressler admitted he engaged in two or more acts of sexual conduct, which included at least one act of oral sexual contact, with a child under age 11.

The contact happened between March 1, 2008 and Feb. 1, 2013, in the vicinity of Bressler’s Pine Bush home, prosecutors said.

Hoovler called the conduct "hard to comprehend" in a statement. "While no amount of incarceration can restore to the victim what was taken, the sentence imposed on this defendant should, rightfully, ensure that he will never again be able to victimize a child."
