Troopers had been called to the location in Westbrookville for a report of a domestic dispute and a man inside the home shooting a weapon.
When troopers got there, Hermanowski fled and was found hiding in an abandoned Airstream trailer in Wurtsboro in Sullivan County.
As troopers approached him, he fired his pistol at them from inside the trailer.
Law enforcement returned fire and Hermanowski was taken into custody. No troopers were injured, police said.
