Couple Charged In Death Of Toddler At Sullivan Motel: Police
Authorities said police found the child unconscious and unresponsive in the lobby of a motel.
LIBERTY, NY — Two people were accused of causing a toddler's death in Sullivan County.
The Village of Liberty Police Department said officers were sent around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to the Knights Inn Motel on Route 52 in Liberty for a child in cardiac arrest.
Police said that officers found a 16-month-old girl who was unconscious and unresponsive in the lobby of the motel.

Life-saving measures were performed by first responders at the scene, after which the child was taken to Garnet Health Medical Center — Catskills, Harris Campus, where she was pronounced dead.
Liberty police, along with the New York State Police and the Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office, began investigating the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.

Police said, as a result of the investigation, Jimmie Luvert, 41, and Lisa Keitt, 26, both of Liberty, were arrested and charged with criminally negligent homicide, a felony, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, misdemeanors.
They were arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court.
Luvert was sent to the Sullivan County Jail without bail. Keitt was sent to the jail in lieu of $500,000 bail, $1 million secured bond or $2 million partially secured bond.
