Police Investigating Mystery Of Shots Fired On East Main Street
Anyone with information about the early morning incident is asked to contact Middletown Police Department detectives.

CITY OF MIDDLETOWN, NY — The City of Middletown Police Department says it is investigating a concerning weekend incident in which several shots were fired near East Main Street and Railroad Avenue.
The culprits have not yet been identified.
On Sunday, around 2:05 a.m., a New York State Police trooper was driving on East Main Street in a marked police vehicle, when he heard what he believed to be several shots being fired in the nearby area. After he reported the incident via radio, Middletown Police Department patrol officers responded to the area to investigate.

Middletown police officers and state troopers then canvassed the area, looking for victims, suspects, and physical evidence.
Based upon their search and additional investigation by detectives, police say that it does not appear that anyone was struck by the shots.

However, officers did find shell casings, and a projectile that had struck a parked vehicle in a parking lot located at the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Beattie Avenue.
The Middletown Police Department says it is continuing to investigate the incident. Anyone with information about the shots fired is being asked to contact the Middletown Police Detective Division at 845-343-3152. Police say all calls will be kept confidential.
