Police Release IDs Of Drivers Involved In 2-Car Crash

Nine people total were taken to area hospitals after the Christmas night crash.

CRAWFORD, NY — Police released more information about the two-car crash in Orange County that sent nine people to the hospital.

The Town of Crawford Police Department said the accident happened shortly after 10 p.m. Monday at the intersection of State Route 52 and County Route 17.

Authorities said a 2020 Kia Telluride SUV was going north on Route 17 when it entered the intersection with Route 52 when it struck a 2013 Audi S4 traveling west on Route 5.

In an update Wednesday, police said the driver of the Kia was Victoria Bayne, 42, of New Paltz. She is in critical condition at St. Luke’s Hospital.

The driver of the Audi, who was alone in the car, was identified as Joshua Lagrange, 21, of Wurtsboro. He is in stable condition at Garnet Health Medical Center.

The condition of the passengers who were in the Kia are:

  • 75-year-old Middletown woman: stable condition at Garnet.
  • 42-year-old New Paltz woman: serious condition at Westchester Medical Center.
  • 42-year-old New Paltz man: critical condition at Garnet.
  • 9-year-old New Paltz boy: critical condition at Westchester Medical Center.
  • 5-year-old New Paltz boy: stable condition at Westchester Medical Center.
  • 4-year-old New Paltz boy: stable condition at Westchester Medical Center.
  • 11-year-old New Paltz boy: stable condition at Westchester Medical Center.

Police said the injuries consisted of head trauma, broken bones, cuts and abrasions.
