Poughkeepsie Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Child: DA

The child was under age 13 at the time, according to prosecutors.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A local man was arraigned Monday on charges that he sexually abused a child over the course of several months.

A Dutchess County grand jury returned an indictment against John Espinosa, 62, according to the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors claim the child, who was under age 13, was abused between January 2022 and January 2023.

Espinosa has been charged with predatory sexual assault against a child, first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, attempted second-degree rape, third-degree sexual abuse, and endangering the welfare of a child.

District Attorney Anthony Parisi said in an announcement, “This defendant’s alleged conduct represents a total betrayal of trust.”

Espinosa’s arraignment was in Dutchess County Court, and his next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 17.
