Rain, Wind, Thunder To Impact Hudson Valley: What To Expect

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — A storm will bring heavy rain and gusty winds to the region starting this afternoon, but weather will improve in time for trick-or-treating on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
Brian Frugis, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service based in Albany, said it will be rainy this afternoon and throughout the overnight hours.
The Hudson Valley area is expected to get about an inch of rain before the precipitation ends around sunrise on Friday, according to Frugis.

The National Weather Service is predicting a chance for thunderstorms overnight tonight.
“There could be rumbles of thunder with the rain, but it will be isolated,” Frugis said.

The rest of Friday will be mostly cloudy, with a chance for sprinkles. It is going to be windy Thursday afternoon, overnight and on Friday, with winds gusting into the 30 to 35 mile per hour range, according to Frugis.
“It will continue to be windy for trick-or-treating,” he said.
Temperatures will hover around the upper 40s on Halloween evening, according to the National Weather Service.
The weekend will have dry weather, with sunny skies and highs reaching into the mid-50s on both Saturday and Sunday, forecasters said.

This Afternoon: Rain, mainly after 1 p.m. High near 59. East wind 11 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Tonight: Rain and possibly a thunderstorm before 1 a.m., then a chance of rain and thunderstorms between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m., then a chance of rain after 2 a.m. Low around 47. East wind 5 to 11 mph becoming south after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Friday: A slight chance of rain between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., then a slight chance of showers after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 56. West wind 10 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 41. West wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 56. West wind 8 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 34.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 56.

This Afternoon: Showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 5 p.m. Steady temperature around 58. East wind around 18 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
Tonight: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2 a.m., then a slight chance of showers between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 47. East wind 8 to 14 mph becoming southwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Friday: A 20 percent chance of showers after 8 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 55. West wind 11 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.
Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 42. West wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
