Real-Estate Firm's Associate Broker to Serve on Archdiocese of N.Y. School Board
Better Homes and Gardens Rand Realty's Mark Tierney will serve on one of the of Archdiocese of New York's regional school boards.

Better Homes and Gardens Rand Realty is proud to announce Mark Tierney, an associate broker for the company’s Pine Bush office, has been appointed by the Archdiocese of New York to serve on the Ulster/Sullivan/Orange County regional school board as a trustee for a three-year term.
“I’m honored to be invited to serve on the board for the Archdiocese of New York,” said Tierney. “Our task will be to manage nine schools in Orange, Ulster and Sullivan Counties, and I will use my past experiences from the Valley Central Board of Education, where I served for nine years, and several other boards and apply them towards this new task.”

Tierney’s background in Catholic education includes his attendance at Bishop Dunn Memorial School in Newburgh from kindergarten to eighth grade. His position on the Ulster/Sullivan/Orange County regional school board for the Archdiocese is his first assignment for the church.
Tierney has been a full-time associate broker for 24 years. He has experience in many areas of the real-estate industry, including single-family and multifamily investment properties, commercial property, raw land and being involved with approximately 300 home inspections.

As a native and lifelong resident of Newburgh, Tierney has exhibited a desire to serve his community through various means. Some examples include nine years of membership on the Valley Central Board of Education, where he acted as vice president for four of them; three years as a member of the Board of Directors for Leadership Orange, of which he is also a graduate of their 2006 class; over 25 years of service on the Orange Lake Civic Association Board of Directors, during which he was vice president for eight; service as a member of the Orange County Citizens Foundation, on which he was part of the land-use committee for several years, and service as a board member for the Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson.

McNiff, Ed.D., superintendent of schools for the Archdiocese of New York. “Mr. Tierney’s experience as an associate broker, his years of dedicated community service and his deep commitment to Catholic education will be invaluable assets for the Ulster/Sullivan/Orange Regional Board of Trustees and the nine regional Catholic schools he will work with. We are delighted to have him on our leadership team.”
